2007 Campogiovanni Brunello di Montalcino

This wine was a true delight! As with the 2008 Tignanello, I had held the 2007 Campogiovanni Brunello for several years and opened it with my business associates while on a road trip in Del Rio.

There was an engaging initial earthiness to the nose that was reminiscent of mushrooms! However, as it breathed, the earthiness on the nose was replaced by an enticingly decadent cherry liqueur! I love the complexities in outstanding wines!

Of course there was wonderful, rich dark fruit and spice on the palate. The tannins were present, but unobtrusive. As wonderful as the 2008 Tignanello was, I believe the 2007 Brunello was the favorite of the table that night.

Although this was my only 750 ml 2007 Campogiovanni Brunello, I was fortunate to recently acquire a 1.5 ml of this vintage to open and enjoy during the next family get together.

You can enjoy this vintage now or can hold it for up to another 4 or so years.
