1982 Issan
Past its peak. Borwnish red, medium colour. Floral notes still there. Took a while to tease out of the glass. Cassis, blackcurrent on the palatte. Lovely smooth finish. Would have been a great wine had it not been so tired. Provenance?

2004 Rolf Binder - Shiraz Heysen
This answers whether Australia can produce a complex shiraz. From the bottle it tastes like licking the melted tar from the freshly paved road and then kissing a full ashtray! Give it 2 hours decanting and it'll transport you to the outback where your sitting on a verandah staring up at the milkyway on a cool night but there's still some warmth re-radiating up from the earth. Big plummy notes, dark purple colour, spices, yet not over the top and jammy like other Australian shirazes. Lovely.
