2007
Nekeas - Vega Sindoa El Chaparral Old Vine
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar - Bright ruby. Extremely rich nose displays black raspberry, plum and flowers. Juicy dark berry flavors are liqueur-like in depth and power but given lift by zesty minerality. Finishes with expansive red and dark berry flavors and excellent persistence. It's amazing that this can sell for under $30, much less $15.
2004
Jordan - Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley
Ample cassis fruit is framed by soft tannins that promise immediate drinkability.A richly-textured, opulent Alexander Valley cabernet that would pair perfectly with a steak. Jordan's use of oak is quite restrained, but there's just enough to complement the violet, currant, smoke and earth notes on this bold wine.
2006
Erath - Pinot Noir Estate Selection
Bright, red-cherry fruit and suggestions of plums are juxtaposed with a deft bit of oak in both the aromas and flavors of this pert and mannerly young wine. More precise than potent and long on the palate, it is just a bit tight as Oregon Pinot is wont to be, but its unwavering focus on fruit makes for easy predictions of goods things several years hence.
2003
Mathiasson
The wine is rich and fleshy, with intense aromatics and a long finish. The tannins are ripe and supple. It has deep, dark fruit, and a soft, but dense mouthfeel. Fresh acidity balances the ripeness.
