Gaetano D'Aquino - Barolo
Brick in color. High rim variation. Slow legs. Before it was decanted it had a strong cedar nose. Wife picked up plum, I didn't. Also before decanting had some dirt and leather on the nose. After decanting slight peat and dirt on the nose. Mellow and smooth tasting. No flavors are dominant., nice tannin mostly subdued earthy flavors with just a little fruit. Slight peat on the back of the tongue.Medium bodied. Smooth texture. Medium finish.
Argyle - Minus Five
very good. Had as part of xmas eve dinner so didn't take detailed notes but everyone loved it. Not to syrupy like some desert wines can be. Just right amount of sugar
Sullivan - Merlot Estate
Still young. I think this needs some more time in the bottle. When first opened it was kind of bland. After bottle was opened for 30+ minutes it opened. Initially it had very little tannins but the longer the bottle was opened the more they appeared. Probably should have decanted. Will sit on the rest of my bottles for at least 2 more years.
