2004 Remizieres - Hermitage Cuvee Emilie
In the glass, the wine is a gloriously dark garnet in color. The nose is most engaging with bright, red fruit, tobacco, brown sugar, and grilled meat. All of which allows room for a subtle, delicate floral scent. On the fore palate you encounter red cherries, but the real power of this wine is on the mid-palate! Here, you experience the smooth, round tannins and the muscular minerality of this wine, which provides complex structure. The finish is refreshing and long.

2000 Trimbach - (Tokay) Pinot Gris SGN
This was a favorite of the group! There was this beautiful golden hue in the glass. Notes of peach preserves and cinnamon on the nose. The peach (some said apricot) continued on the palate accompanied by honeydew melon, loads of honey and a touch of lemongrass. The finish was silky and long. This is such a wonderfully balanced SGN! I heartily recommend you purchase if it can be found!

2009 Concha y Toro - Don Melchor
This was the group's favorite red for the evening. This is an enticingly aromatic wine. Wonderful ripe fruit, tobacco, and fragrant herbs. The inviting fragrance seems to fill the immediate area. Wonderful fruit, well-refined tannins, and just the right level of acidity. The finish was silky and long! Purchase it whenever you can find it! It will be enjoyed for a good number of years to come!

2010 Altamura - Cabernet Sauvignon
Overall, a wonderfully aromatic wine. Good fruit, but the tannins were a bit too much in the forefront. Time is needed. I will allow my remaining bottles to age for another 2-3 years prior to uncorking.

2007 Freemark Abbey Cabernet Sauvignon - Rites of Passage
