2007
Felsina - Fontalloro
Amazing. Will probably get better with age, but great now. Beautifully balanced red and black fruit, great nose, and seamless tannins and a long finish. Very nice.
2001
Behrens & Hitchcock - Merlot Napa Valley
Tons of fruit, but a little thin, almost watery, in the mid-palate after an immediate fruit attack. On the plus side, it's still fresh as a daisy -- maybe the plastic cork is paying off.
2000
Luciano Sandrone - Barolo Le Vigne
The wine is well structured and generally appealing. For me, though, the flavors were too heavy with tar, pine, anise and menthol to be really great.
2001
Domenico Clerico - Barolo Pajana
Delicious, classic Barolo -- though on the dark and powerful end of the spectrum. Complex with a long finish, very well integrated and drinking great. All good.
2004
Silvio Grasso - Barolo Bricco Luciani
Enjoyable. Nice aromas and fruit, though the tannins are a little on the chewy side at the moment. Would probably benefit from another couple of years in the bottle. Had it with a nice grilled porterhouse and arugula & EVOO salad and it made for an extremely nice meal.
