2006
Arista - Pinot Noir Russian River Valley
An example of great California Russian River Valley pinot noir. Terrific nose of pine and earth, coupled with good acidity and not over-ripe red fruits.
2007
Arrowood - La Rose - Lasseter Vineyards
Opened one year after our previous bottle, this is still very fresh and vibrant. A great rose.
2006
Louis Latour - Montagny La Grande Roche 1er Cru
Very good deal for the price. This is approachable burgundy, even though it's more new-world in style. Slightly too oaky, but very nice tropical fruit coming through on the nose and mouth. Good mouthfeel.
2007
Sequoia Grove - Chardonnay Carneros
Well made, but standard Napa chard. Nice citrus and tropical fruit on the nose; gets a bit oaky on the finish. Overpriced compared to some others on the market.
2008
Sequoia Grove - Rollicking Rose
One of the few roses I've ever had that actually improved with a bit of decanting. At $11, this is a good buy. Almost dry. Nice structure. Not much on the nose, but nice sweet strawberries on the palate. Great summer wine.
