2009 Copain - Pinot Noir Kiser En Bas
Deep brooding nose and strong cranberry flavors and a tart finish. "Mineral" flavors really come to mind with this one. Upon opening the bottle, the wine showed very little. After about three hours of air, it really opened up.

2008 Bedrock - Syrah Hudson Vineyard North Pleine de Chene
Simple, warm and bright on day 1, with some pepper, but mostly fruit-driven flavors. On day 2, it became a bit of a mess with noticeable heat and a pruniness that was not pleasant.

2009 Rhys - Chardonnay
A bit fat. I'm tasting butterscotch with a a dash of lemon. The high acidity keeps the wine interesting as I make my way through the bottle, but otherwise this wine seems fairly pedestrian for California chardonnay.

2008 Ayres - Pinot Noir Willamette Valley
Popped and poured. I found it tight and astringent initially. The nose is rich - a bit subtle where I didn't notice much aroma at all initially - with dark fruits and some forrest smells. A well balanced pinot that is restrained while a bit acidic and is very similar to the Penner Ash Willamette bottlings I've had. The most remarkable aspect of this wine is the long aftertaste that continues to evolve for 30+ seconds.
