2001
Sequoia Grove - Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
From magnum. Dark, black color. Medium-full bodied. Still quite youthful aroma, with nice secondary characteristics. Aroma not as intense or complex as I would have liked, but nice leather cab fruit smells. Palate is thick. Still has a fair amount of tannin left, so could certainly age longer. .
2009
Ridge - Lytton Springs
Deep, dark fruit. Black color with crimson rim. Smell of strong black briary spiced fruit. Rich dense mouthful of fruit. Good balance, except quite tannic on finish. Bit saturated, rich, and big for my tastes. Will improve with age.
2010
Dehlinger - Pinot Noir Altamont Vineyard Old Vines
Rich, intense, saturated dark red. Smell of primary red fruit, spice, cinnamon, rhubarb, briary pinot fruit. The old vine pinot is fantastic. Deep midpalata depth. Long finish. Should be even better in about 5 years.
1998
Robert Mondavi - Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve
Truffle smell. After an hour a bit of mustiness blows off, and Bordeaux graphite smells starts to creep in. Dark red fruit. Bit darker than some years. Browning rim. Peaked, but still good and very elegant.
