2002
Pavie
Truly amazing and already accessible!!! Not an overly massive, dense full bodied wine, rather this bottle is wonderfully concentrated and delicate. Complex aromas of leather, cedar, sweet plum, "Juicy Fresh," cigar, smoke, blue berry, and dark cherry with hints of vegetables. Keeps evolving in the decanter. Lush and silky on the palate followed by delicately lingering finish with lively acidity. Very well balanced. I sensed the similar DNA of wine maker Gerard Perse between this beauty and his less renowned terroir Monbousquet.
2006
Luca - Syrah Laborde Double Select Uco Valley
Too much alcohol on palate at this stage. Sweet candied dark fruits aromas jump out of the glass. Not very well balanced on palate though. Needs time.
2007
Loring - Pinot Noir Clos Pepe Vineyard
Densely concentrated pinot noir. Beautiful- almost dazzling- ruby color. Layers of a tad bit sweet oak, blue berries, cherries and cassis. At $40, this is an amazing pinot noir. Very well balanced with lingering finish. Will last long in cellar.
2007
Foley Estates - Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills
Tasted twice with consistent notes. Pretty mute on nose at this point which is quite in contrast to the 2006 at similar age. However, lively acid with blue berries and dark fruits fill the mouth. Nice, lingering finish.
2004
Pintia - Toro
Breathtaking nose of rose petals, blue berries and cassis fruits. Amazing density and great texture in mouth. Well concentrated and silky tannins. Lasted more than 3+ hours in the decanter and grossly outperformed Leoville Las Cases 2002.
