Wines by Jennifer 18.5

2009 Kumeu River - Chardonnay Coddington
Straw yellow color with good viscosity suggesting a generous wine. Tropical fruit dominant on the nose and palate, with more than enough focus to balance the long, satisfying finish. Sorry this was the last one!

2004 Gode - Rosso di Montalcino
Crimson/garnet color with medium rim variation. Nose of crushed cherries and earth component, with hints of BBQ potato chip (really!). Bright red fruit in the mouth, with integrated wood structure and still quite firm tannins. Long and contemplative, a beautiful wine with a couple years still ahead of it.

2005 De Trafford - Shiraz
Showing its age on the rim. Took a bit for the aromatics to develop, but once they did, it was all smoke, dark fruits, and eucalyptus. Same notes followed through on the chalky palate. Seems to have some life left, but drinking quite well now!

2011 Castiglioni - Toscana Rosso
Full of cherry and tobacco notes, with good dusty tannic backbone. Typical nice Tuscan acid structure, fairly long finish. Drinks well now, but should have another couple years ahead of it.

2006 SA Prum - Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese
Deep golden color gained during its 8-year nap. Rich, luscious, and honeyed. Long-lasting candied apricot flavors with balancing hints of slatey minerality nicely interwoven. This one has a long life ahead of it. Glad we have more!
