2010
Gilbert Picq - Chablis Vosgros 1er Cru
89-92 AM:A slightly riper nose of yellow orchard fruit, spice and floral hints merges into dense, vibrant and full-bodied flavors that possess solid power and plenty of punch on the opulent and mouth coating finish. This is a relatively big but well-balanced effort that should offer 4 to 5 years of upside development potential. Drink: 2014+------Pale straw-yellow. Sexy, explosive aromas of powdered stone, orange peel and toasted biscuit. Then much more closed in the mouth, showing superb concentration and tension to the firm flavors of crystallized lime, peach and salty minerals. Really exceptional energy and verve here. The mineral-driven finish offers an uncanny combination of salinity and sucrosite. This wine possesses the sheer density of material to improve in bottle for 15 to 20 years.ST
2009
Geantet-Pansiot - Gevrey-Chambertin Les Poissenots 1er Cru
AM: Here the nose is much more reserved with ripe yet cool and airy black raspberry and red cherry liqueur aromas cut with distinct stony notes that also appear on the rich, intense and beautifully well-detailed flavors brimming with dry extract that renders the otherwise firm tannins almost invisible on the dusty, focused and impeccably well balanced finish. A first-rate Gevrey 1er of finesse and understatement. 93/2019+"--------I say let it sleep for 3-7 years.JG
2004
Domenico Clerico - Barolo Pajana
This wine did NOT change my mind about Barolos. This is not something I even enjoyed or would EVER pay $100. Not repulsive and well made. Balanced but NOT for me
2009
Rene Rostaing - Cote-Rotie (Cuvee Classique)
Deep ruby. A highly aromatic bouquet of black raspberry, licorice, smoky Indian spices and dark chocolate. Chewy and deep in dark fruit flavor but possesses impressive energy, with a zesty kick of minerals on the back end. Finishes spicy and long, repeating the licorice note. Rostaing told me that about 20% of this blend comes from the prime La Vialliere vineyard. ST
