Serene - Pinot Noir Evenstad Reserve
Puts me in mind of a ripe-vintage, top-flight Morey-St-Denis. Dark fruits, minerality, some iron.
Roche de Bellene - Clos de la Roche
Cork was a shambles but once the wine was freed it was well worth the mess and struggle. Has the ripeness of the vintage, and better structure than most '97s I've had. Grand cru stuff. I wish I knew who made it; cork seemed original (given the shambles). I'll try to be more careful with the next, last bottle.
Copain - Pinot Noir Tous Ensemble
Punching well above its weight, this has come together nicely. Luxardo cherry nose, spreads out with vibrancy on the tongue, finishes with length and class. Drinking beautifully and will run.
Cherisey - Meursault-Blagny La Genelotte 1er Cru
Deborah Kerr beach scene in From Here To Eternity -- lithe, nervous, passionate.
Matrot - Blagny La Piece Sous Le Bois 1er Cru
Penetrating red fruit aromas, graceful entry and finishes with persistence. Lovely stuff. A year-in, year-out favorite: 02, 04, 05, 06 all cast in the same style. First bottle corked.
