1990 Beaucastel - Chateauneuf du Pape
deep red colour; needed a lot of airing; sweet and spicey on the palate with notes of black fruits and cinnamon; drinking well now

2009 Jean-Paul et Benoit Droin - Chablis Les Clos
Unfortunately, the first bottle was corked. The second bottle was thankfully fine. It had very nice acidity and characteristic mineral notes, shading at the end towards some sweetness. It still seems far away from its peak.

1991 Montille - Pommard Les Pezerolles 1er Cru
ruby colour; a bit past its best though it was a nice elegant burgundy with some notes of prunes and a hint of cloves at the end. Nice but should have been drunk 10 years ago.

2000 Alain Voge - Cornas Cuvee Vieilles Vignes
deep red colour; I opened the bottle almost seven hours in advance and it certainly benefitted from this airing. It was very good, with notes of black fruits and some spices. Still some tannins but clearly now at or close to its peak.

2007 Jean-Paul et Benoit Droin - Chablis Les Clos
This wine is full of promise but is not ready yet, as Benoit Droin predicted to me some time ago. It has very characteristic flinty notes on the palate with hints of sweetness to come forth in time. A sleeping giant!
