1994 Beaucastel - Chateauneuf du Pape
Dark red robe with some browning at the edges; was decanted about 5 hours in advance and could have benefited from being opened earlier; had notes of spices and black fruits on the palate but tannins were very soft and it needs drinking now

Golden robe; fresh and crisp acidity with sweet notes of peaches and honey; drinking really well

2007 Furst von Metternich - Schloss Johannisberger Spatlese
Very light yellow robe; characteristic petrol-like on the nose; was quite dry at first on the palate with a waxy flavour, but then turned to sweeter notes with citrus flavours; nice acidity; very nice but not at its peak yet

1996 Branaire-Ducru
deep red robe; a bit more austere on the palate than the 95 Branaire which we drank with it, but it opened up nicely with red cherry notes; the best 96 I have drunk to date but outshone by the 95
