Aubert - Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard
Recently enjoyed this for my birthday at local French Restaurant French 75 in Laguna Beach. This is the reason you hold on to Chardonnay. The nose had started to lean toward some secondary aromas such as nuttiness and sweet wood. The fruit was still driving with baked pineapple and lemon merengue. Acidity is shining but in great balance. I immensely enjoyed this fun yet decadent purchase with Lobster claw over sage brown butter gnocchi.
Latour-Giraud - Puligny-Montrachet Champs Canet 1er Cru
Immediately upon tasting I noticed a spiced lemon effect with an elegant medium body. The mid palate showing the creamy effect of the lees and soft oaky notes. Beautiful finish of spiced ripe pears and mineral. This is a wonderful specimen of a Chardonnay from this region!
