La Rioja Alta - Vina Ardanza Reserva
Crimson in color. Low rim variation. Slow legs. Coffee, Espresso, Vanilla and Berry nose. Strawberry, Coffee, Cedar, Vanilla flavor. Light/Medium bodied. Silky, Smooth, Polished, Juicy, Bright texture. Sweet on the mid-palate. Light grip and acidity. Very enjoyable, Gracefully aged. Perfect with mildly spicy pasta or cured meats. Suave and sophisticated. Great buy.
Cailloux - Chateauneuf du Pape
Brooding and powerful wine. Muted bouquet, fruit/earth mix, long finish with a hint of sweetness associated with it, well-integrated tannins.
Corte Pavone - Brunello di Montalcino
WE:Opens with dark concentration and balsam notes of cola, humus and eucalyptus. Despite the thick extraction, the berry aromas are petite and delicate: wild berry and forest fruit. Nice juxtaposition between the bold masculine side and the elegant feminine side. Mouthfeel is bold, plush and powerful. Decanter: Ripe, youthful nose of sweet vanilla, chocolate and sour berry fruit. The coarse palate has green tannins and high concentration with a juicy finish. Modern style of production, but needs more time. Drink 2013-2020. Alc: 14.5%. (17.25 points)
Mancuso - Vino de la Tierra del Valdejalon
The 2005 Mancuso was aged for 14 months in new French oak. It offers up a superb bouquet of toasty new oak, pencil lead, scorched earth, espresso, black cherry, and blackberry liqueur. Opulent, rich, and complex on the palate, this full-bodied wine has tons of flavor, nicely concealed ripe tannin, and a long, fruit-filled finish. Cellar it for 6-8 years and drink it from 2016 to 2030.
