2004
Buil & Gine - Toro
Floral nose and delicious sweet candy flavors splash the mouth at the open then shows forth tar, coffee while holding true to blackberry fruit. Finish is medium in length with definitely a noticeable raisin element. Dark violet with fast legs. Broad but not too big, and terrifically balanced. Acid was in check. Great tannic structure.
2004
Phelps, Joseph - Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
I will continue to gush over this - just terrific California Cab with black cherry and currant flavors that extent into a long finish. The nose and flavors were still around after bottle was open for hours. Just delicious with great balance. This was not fruit bomby but certainly effusive on the flavors. Medium bodied, medium legs.
2007
Perrin & Fils - Vinsobres Les Cornuds
Just huge boysenberry and dark fruit nose, piercing. Huge graphite undertones that softened the longer it was open and then it was just forest fruits after that and a definitely black cherry component. Finish is nice and lasting but it was extremely primary and this was definitely opened young but a hint of what this could become started to show after a few hours. There's a little left in the bottle to try soon. It's medium bodied with a violet hue. No barnyard, no vegetable aroma just lots of dark berries. Excited to leave this alone for a few years and come back.
2002
Tintero - Moscato Sori Gramella
Delicious like sparkling apple cider with just a hint of alcohol. Just refreshing and delightful to drink. Not a lot of experiences with sparkling muscat but most everyone who had some thought it was great. Threw off some sediment (being 8 years old) probably just some sugar crystallizing (no cork fell in). Lots of apple and a hint of peach. Time to drink.
2004
Sierra Cantabria - Crianza
Just a solid expression of Tempranillo, beautiful dried plum nose and just a nice quick crescendo of the familiar tempranillo flavors of coffee, tabacco leaf. Violet color, smooth smooth tannins and just shows some great balance while not in your face. This may have opened up more but it was ready to go right away.
