Serene - Pinot Noir Cote Sud
Passing peak. Very soft and silken mouthfeel but it bordered on limp. Fruits still somewhat evident, tasting of cherries and blueberries with some spice box. Had lost much of its complexity and backbone so didn't pair well with food. Would have been excellent toward the middle part or end of 2011.
Alex Gambal - St Aubin Murgers des Dents de Chien 1er Cru
Excellent Chardonnay for the money. Bright crisp acidity combined with a silken and lightly creamy mouthfeel. Hints of green apple and pear in both the nose and palette. Paired quite nicely with a Roquefort soufflé. Highly recommended.
Adelsheim - Pinot Noir Willamette Valley
Excellent, especially considering it is the winery's entry level PN. Concentrated, rich, and silky. Nose wasn't as interesting as the flavors. Significant amounts of cherry and a little spice on the finish. Excellent for what was considered a mediocre year in the WV.
