2004
Eponymous - Cabernet Sauvignon
Pleasant surprise...decanted for 2 hours and had a lush vibrant nose with hints of black fruit and currants...enjoyed with grilled flank steak...still has a few years left!
2004
Mitolo - Shiraz GAM
Enjoyed with lamb chops - a perfect pairing...needs time to blow off the alcohol and syrupy nose, but within an hour was settled down and ready to go. Gobs of dark fruit and glycerin...a big bad australian shiraz....not sure this has changed one bit since being cellared....haven't had any 20 year old Aussie Shirazes yet, so am curious to see how they evolve.
2002
Worthy - Cabernet Sauvignon Sophia's Cuvee
Right in the wheelhouse...ready and aged nicely. Sweeping bordeaux aromas with good depth and length...quite enjoyable. This is the reason having a cellar is so enjoyable - finding a bottle you paid $25 for has aged very nicely and competes with wines at triple the cost!
2005
Buccella - Cabernet Sauvignon
Decanted at 11 am. First pour at 3pm beautiful color and depth. A little alcohol on the nose but full, ripe fruit gushes from this bad boy. Still needs some more time in the cellar but will wait with great anticipation to see how good this gest.
