2006
Louis M Martini - Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma
Good value, a nice approachable cab !
Medium-bodied, good dark fruit, and the oak is restrained. Bit of interesting secondary flavors too, with more time in the glass (hint of mint, maybe a bit of coffee too).
2005
Trespass - Cabernet Franc
In the glass, brilliant ruby in color. Bright spicy cherry and cedar aromas. Medium-bodied, med-ripe cherries, red berry, moderate tannins. Great balance. A long, sweet finish. As the wine opens in the glass, some secondary aromatics including a bit of "green veg" characteristic of Cab Franc, as well as a hint of Coke or Dr. Pepper !
2007
Melville - Pinot Noir Estate
Dark ruby in color, beautiful Pinot. Sweet cherries/red berries, with a bit of vanilla/light oak. No Burgundian-style Pinot here, this is unashamedly Central Coast.
2007
Suxx - Shiraz
Very dark in color, completely opaque. The aromas include dark cherries and chocolate, and lots of dark cherries and cassis on the palate. Unless you really love big shiraz, I'd limit this one to the grilled steak, or you could always pour it on your pancakes.
2001
Bonny Doon - Freisa Con Fresa
This wine initially seemed to be beyond it's peak (quite probably it is), but with air-time it slowly opened up and proved to be a satisfying and enjoyable wine. Old-world (restrained) style, medium-bodied, with mainly red berry fruits, light oak.
