2003
Handley - Syrah Dry Creek Valley
Smokey nose. Bell peppers. Getting better as it breaths
1999
Pine Ridge - Merlot Crimson Creek
More delicate and smoother than the 98. Drink now or next year
1997
Homewood - Cabernet Sauvignon
So another boutique treat from a purchased collection. It seems Homewood is a one-man shop in Sonoma. This the oldest wine I've opened which had a synthentic cork. This is probably the reason the wine has held up so well. The bright raisin nose shows no earth tones at all The color looks unaffected by age, but the taste reveals no tannis what so ever. It's a silky mix of almond and tabacco with a licorice finish. Nothing terribly complex, but no bad flavors what-so-ever. It's difficult to know how much longer they will last, but I suspect they are changing very slowly given the cork, and we have a few years left. I'll need to try one of the 99's next.
