1955
Lafite-Rothschild
The bottle was mid shoulder and in excellent condition.
The wine started to show a tinge of brown. Very delicate and light.
Almost no tannins left. Tasted almost like a Pinot . The fruit seemed to be back to what I would imagine it tasted when first pressed.
2005
Klein Constantia - Vin de Constance
Bright golden in colour with fresh green tinge. The richly aromatic nose displays candied orange peel, sundried peaches and whiffs of sandalwood. The palate is full and viscous with waves of white peach and pear flavours, restrained acidity and fine, nutty finish.
If you like Deseret Wines and haven't tasted it, do yourself a big favour and do it now. Napoleon's favourite wine. Many of my friends prefer it over a D'yqueem.
A big statement I know, but I agree that it has been preferred in many side by side blind tastings I have done at Wine dinner parties.
