Courcel - Pommard Les Rugiens 1er Cru
Big disappointment. Tasted twice w/similar performance from a good source. Weak, thin and uninteresting.
Excellent. Young. Classic bordeaux, just entering a long drinking window. Black fruit, cigar box.
Louis Jadot - Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St Jacques 1er Cru
Was either never accessible or went into lockdown for a long snooze. Intense, medicinal, slightly bitter. Long, persistent finish, though. Elements for a great bottle are there, but I won't peak for 5 years+. Educational exercise and a good lesson regarding young Jadot wines.
Bruno Giacosa - Barbaresco Riserva Santo Stefano (Red Label)
Perfectly balanced wine. Medium-bodied in the best way. Round, warm and enveloping aromas of red fruits and toasted nuts. Tannins are there but are buried by the fruit. No crime to drink now but its peak is probably 3-5 years out.
Jean Boillot et Fils - Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Mouchere 1er Cru
Really electrifying white burgundy. Fruit, vanillin, oak char all lit up by the wine's acidity. A lot of everything, but everything is in balance. Quite a wine.
