2008
Illumination - Sauvignon Blanc
Medium bodied, with a lot of lemon and minerality. Bright citrus and berry aromatics. Very focused palate with ripe fruit and great minerality. Very good length and balanced acidity. No sense of ammonia on the finish.
2006
Quintessa - Red
Lots of dark currant, plum, and berry on the nose. Smoked wood and some herb as well. Fruit forward and with high tannins that grip the backend. Good length as well. Restrained French oak on both the nose and the palate. Ripe fruit (cherry) and herby notes come out in the finish.
2007
Chateau Montelena - Chardonnay Napa Valley
Bright and crisp upfront with lots of green apple Typical butter and vanilla that is the signature of a grand chard. Nose of melon and lemon peel. Mouthfeel was medium and crisp. Finish not as long as anticipated. Light oak, very much a classic french chablis style.
2001
Clos de Sarpe
High levels of extract, but well balanced. Light acidity. Very earthy, light blackberry. Even though a 2001, still needs time. Will be fabulous in 5 years.
NV
Ayala - Rose Nature
Lovely nose, bright, bright bubbles - tart apple, raspberries and strawberries; fresh palate - refreshing wine. Very dry but not complex. Tasty.
