2010
Turkey Flat - Shiraz Butcher's Block
Part of the grapes come from the home vineyard that has some of the oldest vines in the Barossa, planted by Peter Schulz's great-grandfather Ernest Schulz. The wine has the drive, focus and intensity often missing from this Barossa blend; that said, there are both black and distinctly red fruit components, and the tannins are firm. Give it 10 years, then line it up with a top Rhone Valley example. Outrageous value. Drink [until] 2025. Score - 94. (James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au, July 17, 2012)
2010
McPherson Basilisk
The wine has the excellent colour that is the hallmark of most vintages of this over-delivering, estate-grown blend. Black cherry and spicy tannins are woven through the stylish medium-bodied palate, which has a long finish. It will be good any time over the next 5 years. Drink [until] 2016. Score - 93. (James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au, July 17, 2012)
2008
Mitolo - Cabernet Sauvignon Serpico
Very deep garnet-purple colored, it gives pronounced notes of creme de cassis, Christmas cake, plum pudding, anise, cassia and nutmeg. The rich, full-bodied flavors are very spicy on the palate, off-set by crisp acid and medium-firm fine tannins, finishing with persistent, somewhat savory flavors of mincemeat and marmite toast. Drink this one 2013 to 2022+. Score - 94. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown, MW, erobertparker.com, Dec. 2010)
2008
Sandalford - Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve
TASTING NOTE: Good colour; a classic cabernet in every sense of the term, all about texture, structure and length, rather than opulence, weight and extract/oak; the flavours are at the optimum point of ripeness, the tannins likewise. Drink [until] 2030. Score: 96 (James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au, Aug. 3, 2010)
