Lallier - Millesime
Lovely golden hue, soft mousse and quite uplifting nose of white fruits freshly cut. Featured very good fruit flavours including, nectarine, cox's (orange pippin) and hints of honeyed fruit in the background. Bottle age has improved this champagne and elevated it to almost perfect drinking condition. I feel that it may yet have a year or 2 left in it. A good vintage example, with a rich and succulent quality and depth of flavour. This is a very nice champagne.
Clos Margueritte - Sauvignon Blanc
This wine has retained much of its freshness, the flavours are nicely developed and resilient, with a gentle aroma that still exhibits the grassy freshness alongside green apples that have been cut and left in a warm breeze, no longer sharp, just juicy and refreshing. A surprise and emphatic proof that GOOD NZ Sauv Blnc, can age beautifully. This wine still has a little potential left, in my opinion.
Vecchie Terre di Montefili - Colli della Toscana
Many reports that I have read featuring this wine suggested that 2007 - 2012 was to be the ideal drinking window for this wine. I can say without fear of contradiction that this wine is still drinking magnificently in 2014 and it suggests at least 5 more years at this ideal point to me. It has a lovely and inviting nose of black berry fruit and liqourice. The taste is full and the finish is unbelievably long. I felt that the blackcurrant and perhaps even raspberry flavours that accompanied a chocolate style richness of this wine were marvelous. It is drinking beautifully and accompanies roast pork delightfully. What a lovely wine.
