Corsin - Saint-Veran Vieilles Vignes
This is such a wonderful wine. However, it becomes a memorable pinnacle of a wine if given 2 hours + to breathe before consumption. Quite perfect accompaniment to creole fish chowder style soup.
Chante-Cigale - Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc
Gorgeous and in beautiful condition. Soft stone fruit with hints of 'apple pie' danced all over our mouths, following the delicate floral bouquet that so invited us to take another mouthful. In impecable condition, open and ready for enjoying at its best now and I am sure for a couple more years yet, too.
Rothschild - Escudo Rojo
What an elegant and smooth wine this turned out to have become. Bottle age really suited this wine. Gorgeous colour in the glass, a rounded soft bouquet of black berry and cherry fruit, almost merlot like in its fruitiness. The wine complemented and stood up to some very strong flavours - chillies were made more exciting by its presence! No unnecessary alcohol in the wine. This is my new bargain wine to lay down and wait for, if it always ages like this we are all in for such a treat!!
Cave du Marmande Chateau Bazin
Côtes du Marmandais red powerful and complex, with aromas of ripe fruit and spices, as well as an opulent and concentrated mouth. Accompanies most red meats & game. Has the potential to last at least a dozen years if cellared well. From a vineyard article in Le Figaro's Wineclub.
