Cave du Marmande Chateau Bazin
Côtes du Marmandais red powerful and complex, with aromas of ripe fruit and spices, as well as an opulent and concentrated mouth. Accompanies most red meats & game. Has the potential to last at least a dozen years if cellared well. From a vineyard article in Le Figaro's Wineclub.
HUGEL et Fils GEWURSTRAMINER 'Cuvee Tradition
Full of life, it refreshes itself in the glass with a delightful nose and delivers a teasing selection of stone fruits lead by apricots. Age-less beauty of a wine. Still lively enough to accompany a Thai curry with the greatest of ease. I would definitely buy this wine again, and am enjoying building a vertical collection of Hugel wines.
Prieur Beaune Premier Cru Clos Du Roy
Quite exquisite. Soft but unmistakably plum flavoured fruit with a seductive nose and a smooth medium finish. Very much enjoyed with roast pork, just the lightest of sediment this is definitely at its drinking peak now, probably not much more than 12 months left on the rack for this one.
Francois Cotat - Sancerre La Grande Cote
This is an outstanding example of just how good Sav Blanc grapes can be. This is a fully balanced soft mouthfeel gently fruit flavoured white wine. It is less crisp than one might expect a Sav Blanc to be, but it is so well balanced and has a depth of flavour to it with hints of honey (just hints) up front, followed seemlessly by the arrival of stone fruit flavours - peach / nectarine - before seeming to wrap itself caringly around your tongue. Just stunning and such a pleasure.
