Veuve Clicquot - Brut (Yellow Label)
This is a great example of wine marketing at its finest; it offers no complexity, far too much residual sugar for to be labeled "Brut," and really nothing to recommend it other than that it has been featured in numerous TV shows and movies. Not bad for nearly $50 in many shops...
2006
Stemmler, Robert - Pinot Noir Nugent Vineyard
Took at least 3 hrs to fully open up, whence it revealed dark cherry and raspberry flavors, with a long sweet finish. After 2 days open it evolved even further, gaining complexity though losing some fruit.
1997
Fanti - Brunello di Montalcino
Licorice, black fruit on the nose. Round and mouth filling. Opened up to become almost port-like at points, with hints of cherry candy and tobacco. Not powerful, but very deep.
