2005
Tour Peyronneau
Wonderful aromas of orange blossom, berry and fresh licorice lead to a full-bodied palate, with supersilky tannins and very pretty fruit. Goes on and on. Best after 2011. 4,320 cases made. -JS
2001
Negly - La Porte du Ciel
Leather, tobacco, long finish. Drank another bottle 3/09. It has come completely into its own. Fully integrated. A wonderful example of Syrah. None of the excess of shiraz, and all of the complexity that the grape has to offer. I am completely wowed by this.
2005
Mollydooker - Shiraz/Cabernet Enchanted Path
Avoids the usual Australian excesses with a nice blend of Cab and Shiraz. Pepper and berry, followed by tannin and a nice finish. Ready now.
2004
Philip Togni - Cabernet Sauvignon Estate
Very dense. Blueberry, blackberry and cassis. 20 second finish. Still a very strong tannin backbone. Needs a couple of more years of bottle age to soften. By all means, decant.
