2004
Dal Forno - Amarone della Valpolicella (Vigneto di Monte Lodoletta)
This wine exceeded any expectation I had. This is a very sophisticated wine in dire need of food and specifically a fatty piece of meat. Would also be a great pairing with hard cheeses. Black fruit dominates with a dense minerality at the core of the wine. Powerful tannins that soften a bit in the glass but has the balance that proves this wine will last another 10 years easily. Long finish. Could use some decanting. Stunning wine.
NV
Billecart-Salmon - Brut Reserve
One of the best NV Brut Reserves I've tried from Billecart in recent years! Perfect amount of oak which is in the background but doesn't overpower the wine. Rich fruit of apple and bosc pear with a creamy long finish. Great texture and expansive in the mouth.
2008
Serene - Pinot Noir Jerusalem Hill Vineyard
A great example of the 2008 vintage in the Willamette Valley. Rich, ripe strawberry on the nose. Fruit has silky palate with a touch of french oak, and a finish that continues on and on. Nice balance between power and finesse.
