2003 Etienne Sauzet - Batard-Montrachet
Had this at the start of a glorious dinner where we were lucky to have a 1961 Chateau Margaux and a 1982 Ducru-Beaucaillou and it beat them both into a cocked hat. Not comparing like with like, I know, but the Sauzet was everything you could want in a white Burgundy. An incredibly long finish of brilliantly balanced chardonnay with strong fruit flavours from the hot vintage. This wine has got legs, but enjoy now if you can get a hold of one!
