A little more open than last bottle, but a bit stingy on the alcohol. Not quite together, and I fear it may never become fully balanced. Maturing, but still tight with marked tannins. Should be kept a few more years, but will probably never become that "special" bottle of bordeaux...
Torremilanos - Torre Albeniz Reserva
Starting to really open up and strut its stuff! Really dark and roasted fruit with hints of sweet vanilla oak in the back. Really persistent on the palate and a good, long, intense finish. Just great stuff and with promise for future development. Drink now with 2 hours decant or keep for a few more years.
Somewhat muted nose of blackcurrants, bright red fruits and dark blue flowers. Hints of green, unripe peppers, as it should be in any Sociando. Some toasted oak in beneath. Not very expressive, and a bit bland or flat on the palate. A little short on finish. Good, but no great Sociando in this vintage.
A very straightforward medoc with notes of blackcurrant, green peppers, some leather and new oak. It is now in the difficult stage between young wine and maturity. Even so I don't think ageing will ever make this a "grand vin". Actually, the fruit feels like it's fading, and further ageing would probably only increase the sharp acidity and the touch of unripeness in the finish and the hollowness on the midpalate. Drink now if you have any, but don't expect wine to blow you away...
