Good quality of fruit and OK concentration, but a bit lean and raw now. Should benefit from at least 5 more years of cellaring.
Ducru-Beaucaillou - La Croix de Beaucaillou
Young, but approachable. Wild blackberries, lead, smoke and sweet, oaky vanilla spice. Quite modern and round. Not big or great, but a crowd pleaser - with or without food.
Domaine de Baron'Arques - Limoux
Leathery, dark fruit, quite herbal both on nose and taste. Good, lush but solid tannic structure still. Seems a bit young, but absolutely enjoyable now. To me this is a mix between left bank bordeaux style and Chateauneuf du Pape. Drink now with a good 2 hours decant or let it rest for another 5-8 years.
Extremely unapproachable at this stage. Raw, really sour and acidic, and totally disjointed. Bitter and tannic. Is this wine ever going to be good? Don't think anything was wrong with this bottle - either this wine sucks or it's in a really awkward phase...
