Alain Patriarche - Meursault Les Poruzots 1er Cru
High class, rich yet elegant, vibrant and long on the palate. Excellent Meursault from a great vintage that should drink well for many years.
Rossignol (Nicolas) - Volnay Santenots 1er Cru
Consistent notes. A lovely Volnay (Clive Coates lists Rossignol as a starred producer of Volnays). Med.-dark ruby color; nose shows nice spice & black fruit notes with some animal/barnyard; tannins are softening and integrating; black fruits dominate w/a hint of animal as on the nose; a judicious use of oak; complex & rich if not elegant; drinking well now and should do so for a few more years.
Trimbach - Riesling Cuvee Frederic Emile
Consistent notes. Medium golden color showing some age but bright and crisp on the nose and palate; aromas of citrus (lemon & lime), melon, diesel and minerals; impressively rich on the palate with similar flavors, wonderful balance with a stony minerality and a lemon crispness; elegant, complex flavors on the long finish; a wonderful dry riesling second only in quality to Clos St. Hune, it should continue to drink well for a few more years.
Etienne Sauzet - Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru
Consistent notes. Light golden yellow color; full nose of citrus, spice, and floral notes; similar flavors with good complexity and intensity of honeyed fruit; well balanced with nice levels of acid and oak; long intense finish; better than some Grand Crus; a terrific Burgundy that should continue to drink well for the next 4 to 5 years.
Louis Jadot - Savigny-Les-Beaune La Dominode 1er Cru
Consistent notes with further bottle development. Light ruby red color; full nose of cherries, other red fruit, mushrooms and a hint of cedar; rich and intense yet bright red fruit on the palate; good intensity and balance if not terribly complex or elegant; good acidity; long finish; really quite delicious now and should drink well for 2 to 3 more years.
