Casisano-Colombaio - Brunello di Montalcino
Consistent notes with continued development in bottle. Medium dark mahogany red color. Elegant and stylish w/lovely structure, balance, and complexity; soft tannins, black fruit; long complex finish. Good bottle development. Delicious now and for the next several years
Rocca Felice - Barolo Cappallotto
Med ruby red; lovely nose of red fruit with smoky, gamey nuances; similar flavors in a lighter style but with good flavor intensity, nice acid balance, and a long finish. Ready now but should continue to drink well for several more years.
Bright ruby color; lovely, somewhat rustic, nose of black & red fruit and a bit of leather and haberdashery; similar flavors with good acid balance and intensity of fruit. Lacking some complexity but still very delicious. Long intense finish. A very nice St. Emilion in the middle of its drinking plateau.
Rossignol (Nicolas) - Volnay Santenots 1er Cru
A lovely Volnay (Clive Coates lists Rossignol as a starred producer of Volnays). Med.-dark ruby color; nose shows nice spice & black fruit notes with some animal/barnyard; initially a bit hard and rustic on the palate but softened up nicely w/airing; tannins are firm integrated; black fruits dominate w/ a hint of animal as on the nose; a judicious use of oak; complex & rich if not elegant; drinking well now and should do so for a few more years.
Corsin - Pouilly-Fuisse Vieilles Vignes
Consistent notes. Light gold color; complex nose of peach, citrus, ginger and mineral; Rich, intense, and dry on the palate, with lots of complex old vine fruit, spice and mineral; crisp with good acidity; long lovely finish. A terrific Pouilly-Fuisse that should drink well for another decade.
