2002
Lancaster Estate - Red
Herbal and violet aroma. Currant, herb and spice. Very austere wine with a long, dry finish.
1999
Bollinger - La Grande Annee
Citrus, apple and pear flavours. Terrific structure and long aftertaste. Much sweeter than i expected.
2001
Renaissance - Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve
Much bigger and more fruit forward than i expected from this producer. Complex cherry, cola and spice. 13.5% alcohol.
2004
Montes Alpha - M Apalta Vineyard
Maple and coffee on the nose. Currant with a hint of olive and cinnamon. Still very tannic. Good acidity. 14.5 alcohol.
2005
Concha y Toro - Don Melchor
This is my second note on this wine. The first bottle had a slightly funky/barnyard nose. The second bottle (same source, two months later) had no funk. Profound fruit and herbal aroma. I really liked the way this one smelled. Current, chocolate, olive and spice. A little heat on the finish. Plenty of acidity. 14.5% alcohol.
