VinCellar supports multiple scoring systems

VinCellar allows you to use your preferred scoring scale when entering your tasting notes.  You can choose to enter wine scores based on a 100 point, 20 point, 10 point, 5 star or 3 star scale.  Scores entered in your preferred scale will be displayed in that manner.

Although VinCellar supports multiple scales, all community scores are calculated and displayed using the 100 point scale.  Individual scores (using scoring systems other than the 100 point scale) are normalized to the 100 point scale in order to derive a VinCellar community score. See the conversion chart below for details.

Selecting your preferred scoring scale

Please note that VinCellar’s default scoring system is the 100 point scale.  To override this default with your preferred scoring scale:

  1. Go to “My Account”
  2. Select the “Preferences” tab
  3. Go to “Scoring Preferences”
  4. Click on “Edit” and select your default scale

Your default will display in all places with your tasting note.  This default can be overridden for an individual tasting note at any time.
