Light, bright amber. Sexy aromas of red berry compote, gingerbread and spicecake, with a deeper note of cherry pit coming up with air. Tightly wound, powerful red fruit flavors are given spine by tangy minerality, a hint of orange zest and peppery spices. A deeper note of molasses comes up on the long, clinging finish.

The N.V. Fine Muscat offers the most complexity of this hedonistic trio. Dark amber-colored, it delivers flavors of toffee, caramel, brown sugar, and dates. It is well balanced and has a long, pure finish. R. L. Buller & Son was started in 1921 by the grandfather of Andrew Buller, the current winemaker. The winery remains one of the quality leaders in the production of sweet wines from the warm terroir of Rutherglen. Moreover, the wines cannot be duplicated anywhere else in the world.

Dark amber, sherry like. Considerable detritus, I should have decanted.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
