Purchased on 9/15/13 on Daniela Lucchesi's wedding weekend at Far Niente Winery. from Enroute's website: LES POMMIERS "Les Pommiers" Pinot Noir draws its name from the apple orchards emblematic of the Russian River Valley's agricultural history. At once elegant and intense, Les Pommiers is the consummate blend of fruit from our vineyards located primarily in the Green Valley and upper Middle Reach areas of the Russian River Valley AVA. Our grapes are farmed according to organic principles and minimally handled at the winery. The wine is deftly shaped with a subtle combination of new and once-used French oak barrels. Les Pommiers captures aromatics of wild raspberry, black cherry, plum and floral notes that yield to mineral, spice and toasty oak. It has a juicy, coating entry, followed by more layers of raspberry and cherry fruit, and ripe, integrated tannins.

from K&L website ($56.99): 92 points Wine Enthusiast The grapes come primarily from the Green Valley and Upper Middle Reach areas of the Russian River Valley, and you can detect the cool climate in the wineâ??s light, silky texture, mouthwatering acidity and just-ripe flavors of cherry, rhubarb and persimmon. Elegant and savory, itâ??s delicious now, but will reward 5â??6 years in the cellar. (9/ 2013) K&L Notes The organically-grown fruit for this Pinot Noir comes from vineyards in the Green Valley and Middle Reach sub-regions of the Russian River, an area once known for its apple orchards. This wine is an hommage to those orchards, most of which have been replaced by vineyards. Full-bodied, with the Russian River's characteristic wild raspberry fruit, soil, and oak spice, this layered Pinot will continue to evolve over the next few years.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
