USA - California - Sonoma - Russian River Valley

Red Pinot Noir
Producer Notes

Kosta-Browne started its supersonic trek to celebrity status in 1997, when pals Dan Kosta and Michael Browne pooled their restaurant tips and purchased a half ton of Pinot Noir, a manual crusher-de-stemmer and a used barrel. Adding the business and investment-savy Chris Costello gave Kosta Browne the requisite resources to expand into the Pinot force they are today. Fruit is sourced from... More »

Bright ruby. Pungent, highly aromatic red berry and cherry aromas show an array of floral, Asian spice and herb nuances. Ripe but energetic black raspberry, cherry-cola flavors show a subtle smoky earthiness and gain sweetness with air. Finishes sappy and long, with a strong whiplash of bitter cherry.

Drink Dates 2013-2016

The 2010 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley is juicier, richer and rounder than the Sonoma Coast bottling tasted alongside it. Here it's the immediacy of the fruit that speaks loudest. Cinnamon, cherries, plums and mint are some of the notes that flesh out on a juicy, exuberant finish that captures the essence of Russian River Pinot. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2016.

Rich and expressive, with bold layers of ripe blueberry, plum and wild berry flavors that show touches of spice and espresso. At points open-knit, yet tightening on the finish.

Holy Crap. Just gorgeous. Dense, full, no decant. Better after 1 hour. Drank after good bordeaux. Increased the intense sense of sweetness. Drank this after the verite w/ Karol.

Very plush and ripe, with mocha-infused cherries, sweet spices, and red fruits. Very good!

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
