Drink Dates 2012-2017

A Zinfandel of stature and quality, this was well balanced with dark fruit, graphite, minerals and ample acidity, with a long finish. Unlike lesser Zins, this one held together to the last drop, and paired well with seared Ahi Tuna - thanks in part to its mercifully low ABV of 14.5%. Worth laying down for three or four years. A great example of its type and fairly priced. Would purchase again.

Needs time. A bit disjointed. Good bramble and fruit.

Drink Dates 2014-2017

Still a little early to drink this, but with about an hour in the air, it was really showing its power and depth. Dark fruit and pepper on the nose that punches harder on entry, followed with smoky spice, licorice and cedar midpalate. Strong tannins that should even out with some more time in the bottle. I'll be checking back in with it after another year in the cellar; WS says wait till 2014 but I don't have that kind of patience. ;-)

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
