The estate is run by Paolo de Marchi, who has been turning out significant and stunning wines for years. Beautiful ruby/brick color. Sparkling clarity. Nose of red fruit and leather. Tasted lively, with nice acidity. Fruit, leather, tar, earth. Nicely balanced, but also very lively. Persistent finish. Reminded of burgundy. Very enjoyable indeed.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
