This was the WOTN for many, and I can see why as the Pinot from Mendocino is very different than what many are used to from the Sonoma Coast and further South in California. Mendocino Pinot is savory, more black fruit than red, with more leather and spice. Color: Dark red and purple with red edges A nose of strawberry, licorice, minerals and spice. The palate is elegant, but persistent, with clean, fresh, fruit and acidity that are a fabulous pairing and leaves the palate clean with a lingering fruit note.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
