Scott Adams released his first Zinfandel from the 1999 vintage in 2001 and the winery became an instant success. Beautifully defined fruit is the hallmark here without the overt heaviness found in many examples of this varietal. A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
