Visited the winery last December and was simply charmed by the property, the wine and the winemaker, Bruce Cousins. The wine even looks thick and is the darkest of purple just before black. A slight chill is recommended. The 14.8% alcohol is well balanced with the fruit. The dark berry and juicy plum fruit are so dense that the tannins are in the background to me. Some licorice on the nose and in the mouth along with peppery spice. In some ways it feels like I am smelling and drinking a fresh dark berry pie. It's a great zin, one of the most enjoyable I have had. Very full bodied, but balanced, will warm you up nicely.
