Drink Dates 2011-2018

I have opened about four bottles of this blend. Two were the 2009. It is a remarkably consistent wine. Blackberry, Cherry, a very plush feel in your mouth, brings to mind chocolate and vanilla. Moderate tannins, it is held together by oak, just a bit too much oak. I think this wine has the body and structure to stand up to time in the cellar.

Decent - little sweet, slight tannic tang - but subdued.

Drink Dates 2011-2013

After picking this up recently upon recommendation of the manager at our local store, we had to try it once home that night. He said as far as reds go most people like it quite a bit and it's one of their best sellers. We agreed. I have since picked up 2 additional bottles. I highly recommend this inexpensive blend.

Blend of Syrah, Zinfandel and Merlot. Apothic Red reveals intense fruit aromas and flavors of blackberry and dark cherry layered with hints of mocha, chocolate and brown spice. The plush, velvety mouthfeel and smooth finish round out this full-bodied red blend. Bit of a fruit bomb but tasty.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
