Right after opening there was little nose and seemed a bit dull. After opening up it was excellent. More typical of a colder upper west coast syrah rather than the hotter cali style. Dark and dense but with a fresh flavor and some decent tannins suggesting it would be a bit better in a few years. Still great now as long as you let it breath for a half hour or so.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
