The 2008 Bergfeld Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the more opulent, silky wines, with impressive levels of black currant, black cherry and licorice-infused fruit, with some toasty oak and spice box in the background. Elegant yet powerful, pure and velvety, it can be drunk over the next 15 or more years.

Smooth-textured, rich and savory, with excellent depth and purity to the flavors. Full-bodied, with tiers of spice, black cherry, currant, licorice and mineral. Gains traction on the finish.

Aerated into decanter, drank over next 90 minutes. Huge fruit, balanced by tannins and oak influences. Will try to hold on to my last bottle another 5 years, and know patience will reward. Love Hall wines, and this one of our very favorites.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
