This is one of my favorite California Cabs. It's big and full bodied, with blackberries & plums. Has an extremely long finish. Definitely not as smooth and silky as their Special Selections, but a fine wine. The 2007 is better but this is an excellent wine.

Needed very little decanting. Both bottles were ruby red in color, very aromatic, taste of sweet dark cherries & berries, dusty tannins, high alcohol content but no heat. Smooth & creamy. Would have liked a little more grip, but it was truly pleasurable drinking.

Upon opening, nose of earth, cassis, black fruits and vanilla on the pallet. Full bodied with chocolate and cocoa on the finish. At 2 hours of decant, nuance of plum and licorice.

Outstanding berry flavors with vanilla aftertaste. Very smooth now, and should last many years.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
