($45) Good full medium red. Reticent nose hints at strawberry and loam. Then surprisingly sappy on the nose, with considerable weight and power to the very ripe red and orange fruits. This is chewy and dense almost in a 2007 style, but can't quite match the Occidental Ridge example for nuance. Finishes very ripe but firm-edged, in need of some patience.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
