Red Pinot Noir
Producer Notes

Kosta-Browne started its supersonic trek to celebrity status in 1997, when pals Dan Kosta and Michael Browne pooled their restaurant tips and purchased a half ton of Pinot Noir, a manual crusher-de-stemmer and a used barrel. Adding the business and investment-savy Chris Costello gave Kosta Browne the requisite resources to expand into the Pinot force they are today. Fruit is sourced from... More »

Obvious sign of the effects of the summer fires in CA in this wine. Despite the smokey flavor, there was still plenty of good fruit underneath. Cherries, chocolate, and red fruits present.

Believe the hype. This was one of the most interesting Pinots I've ever had. The nose was a little tight at first, but with some aeration it opened up to show lovely notes of caramel, vanilla, tobacco, smoke, and a heavy dose of leather. On the palate the wine was fairly light and tasted of dried red fruits and plum. Every time I went back for more, this wine showed me something new. Excellent. Could probably be decanted for an hour or so before drinking, but we couldn't stand the wait, so we dove right in and we weren't disappointed.

Nice berry.cola spice blend but the end could use some more time to develop. Will wait until late October or later to open next bottle.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
