After playing 13 seasons in the National Football League, Terry Hoage, with his wife Jennifer, purchased 26 acres in Paso Robles in 2002 and planted to Rhone varieties: Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre and Counoise. Production for all wines is steady at 1600 cases. The winery mailing list is closed.

Deep reddish purple in color with an enticing aroma of blackberries, cassis, smoky toast, and graphite. On its own, the wine is wonderfully balanced between sweetness, acid, and ripe tannins, with delicious, luscious black fruit and peppery spice. Medium-full bodied, but viscous enough to coat the tongue, the sweet fruit finish lingers on the back palate and invites another sip. With food, however, this ripe fruit flavor vanishes - even with a seemingly perfect pairing such as roast chicken. Therefore, this wine may be better suited as a "cocktail wine."
