A very nice wine on its own but it did not play well with food. When I ate with pizza it became very bitter and chalky. On its own, it had a great nose and a smooth and refined finish.

This has firmed up a bit ovet the last year...and it's for the better. The fruit is lush but I love the supporting structure that's evolving. While previous bottles were easy pop and pours this needed three hours in decanter. It continued to improve over two hours of drinking.

Dark garnet core with sweet nose of cassis fruit, vanilla and oak. Palate evolves nicely with distinct notes of dark fruit and huge spice notes of cloves, all-spice and nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied structure and medium to long finish. Flavors and aromas bounce around making distinct appearances, which is not to say things are necessarily disjointed but it lacks the fluidity and complexity of a well aged/structured offering. Nonetheless, a great value for Napa cab.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
